Relaunching our School Values

The Christian ethos permeates throughout the academy with a strong focus on the academy’s values which are embedded in the pupils’ daily life.PDET Review

The school has a very strong ethos of care and consideration for each and every child. The school interacts really well with the children and really makes them involved with the school life, making them feel like one big family. Parent

The assembly that allows parents to attend weekly gives you a real feeling of connection to the school and to see how they are working to the school’s values.Parent

Our Vision

We are building what we value and everything we do is done with love.  Our six school values of responsibility, friendship, honesty, compassion, respect and perseverance are all underpinned by our one all-encompassing value of love.  Adults and children are known and loved and our vision guides us to live our values every day and inspire a love of learning.

Many schools talk about educating the whole child and teaching children to be good citizens; we believe that being a Church School means much more than this.  Our Vision is committed to encouraging an understanding of faith. Within this context, the school teaches respect for other world religions, whilst maintaining Christian values in its ethos and teaching.  At Staverton all that we do is underpinned by these Christian or Gospel Values; the values taught by Jesus.  We firmly believe that these values are not 'add ons', they are central to all that we do, not something separate. We hope that these values become the children’s virtues.

The school gives high priority to the spiritual development of our children by giving opportunities for reflection and by promoting a sense of curiosity and excitement about the world around us. Staverton values a partnership between school, home and church and encourages everyone to make a positive contribution to the wider community.  Preparing children for future adulthood is a priority.

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Our Christian Values

Our six school values are underpinned under one overriding value, Love. We want our children, parents and staff to live love every day.

Above all be loving, this ties everything together perfectly. Colossians 3:14

All our values are revisited every year with the aspiration that children live them through their education and family life. We want our children to be leaders, inspire others, voyage beyond school and educate others, with Jesus' teachings at the heart. They are as follows:

LIVE: Leading, Inspiring, Voyaging, Educating

LOVE: Live Our Values Everyday

Responsibility;  Friendship; Honesty; Compassion; Respect; Perseverance

Charity Work

Throughout the year we hold events to raise money for a number of charities such as Toilet Twinning, Ukraine, Diabetes UK, UNICEF, Wateraid, Comic Relief and Sport Relief. This is done in a variety of ways: non-uniform days, coffee mornings, bake sales and  special challenges, all to raise awareness of these causes. As a result of the success of our ‘Spend a Penny’ challenge a latrine was built in Tallopundi Village in Nepal and a new typhoon-resistant home in the Philippines, built to rehouse some survivors of Typhoon Haiyan, now has a toilet.

About Us

Situated in the picturesque village of Staverton, our small village school is a well established and integral part of the local community. We enjoy very secure links with our local church, St. Mary's, and the strong Christian ethos and family feel within our school is shared with all of our visitors. In August 2014, our school became an academy, joining the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust.
