I feel one of the most important factors that allows the children to progress academically is the children feel listened to and valued as individuals enabling them to focus on their education as they feel safe and nurtured. Parent

Here at Staverton Primary, we understand the need for everyone in our school to have a healthy lifestyle. We actively promote physical and emotional health, and aim to equip pupils with the understanding and skills they need to make informed decisions about their health, both now and in the future.

We are delighted as a school to be linked with Mental Health Support Teams.  Please see the leaflet below for further information:

Well-being

We are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.

 At our school we:

  • help children to understand their emotions and feelings better;
  • help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries;
  • help children socially to form and maintain relationships;
  • promote self esteem and ensure children know that they count;
  • encourage children to be confident and ‘dare to be different’;
  • help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks.

We offer different levels of support:

Universal Support- To meet the needs of all our pupils through our overall ethos and our wider curriculum. For instance developing resilience for all.

Additional support- For those who may have short term needs and those who may have been made vulnerable by life experiences such as bereavement.

Targeted support-  For pupils who need more differentiated support and resources or specific targeted interventions such as wellbeing groups or personal mentors.

Lead staff members:

Mrs Ruth Nelmes, our school SENDCo and DfE Accredited Mental Health Lead

Mrs Kaye, our dedicated and accredited Mental Health First Aider.

Our dedicated team offer a range of support for children, including Drawing and Talking, and social and emotional interventions.

About Us

Situated in the picturesque village of Staverton, our small village school is a well established and integral part of the local community. We enjoy very secure links with our local church, St. Mary's, and the strong Christian ethos and family feel within our school is shared with all of our visitors. In August 2014, our school became an academy, joining the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust.
