OUR CHURCH SCHOOL
"Above all be loving, this ties everything together perfectly"
Colossians 3:14
We had a wonderful whole school art day creating our Vision out of merino wool. Every child in our school helped to make this beautiful banner. With thanks to Staverton Education Foundation for funding this memorable day for all the children.
Our Vision
We are building what we value and everything we do is done with love. Our six school values of responsibility, friendship, honesty, compassion, respect and perseverance are all underpinned by our one all-encompassing value of love. Adults and children are known and loved and our vision guides us to live our values every day and inspire a love of learning.
Our Mission Statement
Staverton is a nurturing and aspirational church school, offering an excellent education to inspire a love of learning and shared energy to continually get better. Our vision is rooted in theology and educational philosophy, to support our children to flourish academically, spiritually, emotionally and socially. We are united in our vision having a transformational impact on the wellbeing of our whole school community. Relationships at Staverton are trusted and all successes celebrated, valuing the unique qualities of each and every one of us in our school community. We prepare our children for life beyond our doors, instilling strong Christian values to guide them to live life in all its fullness.
Spirituality
We have been thinking about what Spirituality means to us. Jack came up with the idea of the Holy Trinity being like a flower. The pollen is the Holy Spirit which flows everywhere. The stem is the Father who stands tall, holding everything together. The petals are the Son, who came to earth to help us all to flourish and bloom. We enjoyed creating Jack's idea of Spirituality into a mosaic. It's a lovely link with all our classes which are all named after flowers.
Please see our Policies at the sidebar of this page which including our Curriculum Map detailing how we plan for Spirituality and Courageous Advocacy.
What our parents and staff say about our vision and values (February 2025)...
We are extremely appreciative and happy with the values and principles that are shared and encouraged at a personal and collective level within the school. My child has benefited from increased confidence, understanding and inquisitiveness during his short time at school. And we can only be excitedly apprehensive for his future at Staverton, and we look forward to seeing how his experience shapes him as he grows. The school feels very family orientated and personable, this is appreciated greatly. The Christian values are extremely important to us and I believe these values are intrinsic to our child’s happiness, learning and growth. It feels very reassuring and fills me with contentment knowing that my child is at a school that has these values which will encourage him to be the best that he can be.
Parent of a child in Reception 2025
Since joining Staverton, the support that my child has received has been amazing. Although she has many problems, nothing has ever been too much or any kind of inconvenience for you. Not only have you been supportive to my child, you have supported myself and my family too. I cannot praise Staverton school enough. I really don’t want her to leave in September. I will never forget what you have done for her, her confidence and social skills have truly come on leaps and bounds. I cannot thank you enough. Totally different child.
Parent of a child in Y6 2025
From the moment I walked through the school it was clear that love and compassion was at the heart of the school. The older children take on the role as a 'big friend' very seriously, even looking after other younger children throughout the year. As an EYFS teacher I feel the children in my class are loved and cared for by every member of staff and child in the school and I know they are safe no matter where they are.
EYFS teacher 2025
My grandchild has a smile on his face when I drop him off at school and the smile is still there when I pick him up. According to his teacher he is doing well academically and tells me he has 6 friends in his class! Clearly you are doing something right at Staverton School, keep up the good work 🤗
Grandparent to a child in Y1 2025
My son joined year 4 in January and has been made to feel valued and appreciated. He now talks about his day, which he didn’t do before. Thank you to all for making him feel so welcome.
Parent of a child in Y4 2025
Staverton school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where kindness, tolerance and compassion is not only taught and encouraged but applauded and rewarded which really helps to firmly instil the values in the children that attend. This ethos can be seen and felt throughout the school.
Parent of a child in Y2 2025
I really like how the values are brought into celebration assembly and can be discussed there. I’ve enjoyed trying to engage parents in talking about these!
Parent of a child in Y2 2025.
My daughter continues to be such a caring person and tells me the school values on a daily basis, we also practice this at home and it has made a big impact.
Parent of a child in Reception 2025
Our vision and values are displayed around our school. I know that these have an impact on our children as they are celebrated and shared in assembly weekly but also valued in class and on the playground too. I often hear myself praising children for showing 'kindness' so that they know these are values we focus on in our school. It is important that children recognise this is as important as academic achievements and makes them a Staverton pupil!
Year 3/4 teacher 2025
I believe that this Vision and set of Values, binds us together as a team so that we know, understand and support each other to work towards common goals. This encourages a very supportive, cohesive team, with a clear goal.
Office 2025
Our vision and values help our children to be kind and respectful. It encourages them to love and look after each other and to be responsible and friendly members of the community.
Year 1/2 teacher 2025
We feel at Staverton school that the core values it promotes and encourage have helped nurture our boys to become more well- rounded and positive individuals. We like how not only academic success is encouraged and celebrated but also the values that help equip the children to feel able to reach these milestones even if they find things tricky at times. Our boys feel very happy and valued within the school community.
Parent of two children at our school 2025
As a Year 5 and 6 teacher at Staverton, I see every day how love ties everything together in our school community. Our values of responsibility, friendship, honesty, compassion, respect, and perseverance are not just words—we live them in our classrooms, on the playground, and in everything we do. Above all, love is what underpins it all, shaping the way we learn, grow, and support one another. In my classroom, I strive to create a space where every child feels known, valued, and encouraged to be their best. Teaching at Staverton is about more than just lessons; it’s about inspiring a love of learning and nurturing each child to flourish academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. We celebrate successes together, learn from challenges, and prepare our children for the world beyond our doors with strong Christian values to guide them.
